A Meeting Of Hearts
In this modern age of the Internet, social networking and frequent travel, the world has become so much smaller. Couples from different cultures who meet, fall in love and get married are becoming a common occurrence. Blissful Brides speaks to some brides who've been through the exhilarating experience, and get them to share their most memorable moments with us.
Sutha & Shane O'Connell

Date of wedding:
2 July 2010

The cultures that met:
Irish and Indian

How we blended them:
I was open to having two wedding ceremonies (the typical 'white wedding' in church and a traditional Indian wedding), however, my husband opted for the latter. After being immersed in my culture from the point when he was introduced to my family and learning what the Indian wedding ceremony represents and the traditions involved, he believed that that would be the best way to express our commitment to one another and mark a defining milestone for us.

Our favourite moments:
It was an amazing experience as his whole family not only attended the wedding but actively participated as well. My mother-in-law and three sisters-in-law looked stunning in their Indian saris, which they were wearing for the first time in their lives. It was also endearing to see my husband perform the wedding rituals to perfection, much to the surprise of most of my guests. He was much better than I was!
