The process of creating a diamond engagement ring from scratch is a long journey, with numerous QC checks for quality assurance at every step. Each process, albeit time-consuming, contributes to the ultimate design of each and every Michael Trio jewellery. Here are the ways our experts go about creating the perfect matrimonial token - the perfect proposal ring.

The initial stages of crafting a proposal ring begins from the designing. From the number of prongs, type of prong, and other details such as channel or pave, the craftsman carefully carves the wax according to the design draft approved by the client - refining the details of the filigree, symmetry and shape of the bezel, shank and the overall setting. Once done, the next step would moulding and casting of the setting.
Gold is melted (usually in a furnace) to be poured into the mould cast.
This process, called Precision Casting, or Lost-Wax Process, uses centrifugal casting which results in high quality and control of the metallurgy. A more adventurous couple may opt for a two-toned setting, where some may require a separate wax mold even. Most couples these days opt to have their setting casted in full 18K white gold or platinum to match the diamond.

After all this has been done, the craftsman will begin the fitting process. For a channel or pave engagement ring with sidestones, the mini diamonds are fitted securely along the sides of the ring. The pave setting resembles the elegant beauty of the eternity ring, a timeless and flawless masterpiece.

The main diamond, all ready to be fitted securely into the setting, goes through the highest quality procession, as the craftsman carefully marks the desired height against the prongs. The diamond is then set, with the final part of the fitting process being securely fastening the prongs against the stone. Once diamond and setting has been unified, the last two steps begin. All the diamonds at Michael Trio are certified GIA diamonds, the leading diamond grading and certification across not only all Singapore jewellery shops, but the majority of established leading jewellers worldwide.

Polishing for the diamond ring is an important step to ensure that all subtle marks of smudge, dirt residue and even tiny scratches have been buffed out, leaving a perfectly pristine engagement ring for presentation. Polishing also helps smoothen any rough edges along the ring.
