Six Tips To Avoid Becoming A Bridezilla

Sure, wedding planning can be an absolute blast, but when the pressure of having your dream wedding meets reality, things can get a little stressful.

To avoid any Bridezilla situations, here are six tips to prevent your own bridesmaids from turning their backs on you.

1. Don’t forget your fiance

Though it might not seem like much of a tip, this is worth mentioning. Planning for your wedding is a huge responsibility and you don’t want to be trapped in that situation where you’re left with next to zero budget for your wedding cake. Sodo your research, get advice from experienced brides or professionals and look around to get a realistic understanding of the wedding market.

Also remember to set aside time and attention for your fiance amidst all the planning to prevent additional tension.

2. Don’t harp on your wedding

We get it, you are excited to marry The One. While your loved ones may be more than happy to share the joy, no one needs to hear about your floral arrangement every two minutes. Remember to take some time off for yourself and the people around you and take part in non-wedding related activities. This will also help to keep you grounded and your stress at its minimum.

3. Remove unrealistic expectations

It is your big day, and you are willing to invest everything you have - time, attention, energy and money - into it. But don’t expect that from everyone, even those closest to you. Once you are able to do, you will be able to set aside some unrealistic expectations you might have of your wedding party.

4. Choose to have fun

Remember the reason why you’re planning this day. It’s a celebration of the love and new life your loved one and you have decided to commit to. Choose to have fun and create a day of happy and priceless memories instead of stressing over the smallest of details (so what if the linen turns out to be more of a cream than egg shell?).

5. Set some time aside for yourself

You might be taking on the majority of the planning details on top of your everyday responsibilities, where this process can be very draining. But remember, your health and well-being should come first. Ensure that these breaks are not wedding-related but instead, ones that help you relax and feel connected to the people around you.

6. Ask for help

Trying to do everything by yourself is a sure-fire way to turn into a bridezilla. Instead, try to ask your family and closed ones for assistance. They will most probably be willing to help you in any way they can - as long as it is within their means. However, take extra care to be considerate of their time instead of coming across as a demanding bride-to-be. Remember, they are doing you a favour and are not obligated to help you with the tasks. Instead, be as clear as you can with your instructions and appreciative of their time and effort.
