10 Ways To Get In Shape For Your Wedding

Looking your best on your wedding day and in general is every bride or groom to be’s dream. The first and most common method that comes to mind will be to go on a diet. However, diet alone will not be able to help you achieve your dream body.

Here are 10 steps to incorporate in your life to achieve your dream body in the months leading up to your wedding to achieve and maintain the shape you want!

Be realistic

Before you get started, give yourself a realistic goal on what you want achieve, the duration you have and the steps that you will be taking to go about on achieving that goal. Do not set yourself up for disappointment and additional stress by setting unrealistic expectations for yourself. This will only affect you negatively and affect your wedding planning as well.

Plan

Once you have your ultimate goal, it is time for you to start planning. You will need to plan for your meals, exercises, etc. While most of your time might be taken up by wedding details, you need to ensure that you fit in time to have a proper workout. Usually the most recommended time to work out is in the mornings, just before you start your day.

This will enable you to have a proper, uninterrupted time to workout, improve your metabolism and leave you feeling great all day!

Adjust your diet

Once you have planned on the ways to achieve your goal, start adjusting your diet to help you get there. Exercise and diet go hand in hand in helping you achieve your dream body. Remember that your diet should be one that is healthy, nutritious and filling.

For example, include food items such as, vegetables, salmon, eggs, chicken breast and fruits into your diet. If these items are already present in your current diet, increase the serving sizes especially for vegetables.

Challenge yourself

If your workout plan is the same throughout the entire period, you will not be able to reach your ultimate goal. If you keep doing the same thing, most definitely you will not get different results.

Challenge yourself after every few weeks or month. Increase the weight you’re lifting, add in more exercises or increase your workout time. Each time you challenge yourself, not only will you feel better with your progress, but you’re also one step closer to getting that wedding body!

Set small goals

While you are working towards your ultimate goal, set small goals along the way as a form of motivation and milestone marker. This also gives you a variety of challenges to prepare for in order to add more variety to your work out. These small goals will also be able to help you keep a record of how much you have achieved, keeping you motivated and positive. Each goal can be a test as to whether you’re ready to add give yourself the next challenge.

Drink up

Staying hydrated and drinking enough water is one of the most important steps in reaching your goal. Not only is water healthy, but it also prevents you from overeating. Drinking the daily requirement of water consistently and diligently will not only improve your metabolism and give your brain an extra push, but it is also said to improve your skin as well. Kill 2 birds with one stone and all you have to do is drink about 8 - 10 cups of water throughout your day.

Start a visual diary

Once you start with your plan, you will start to lose fats, but gain muscles. Hence, you should not always rely on the numbers you see on the scale. Instead of solely focusing on the numbers, start a visual diary to keep track of how you look. Afterall, a picture speaks a thousand words! On top of that, once you start recognising and seeing your improvements, this might help you stay motivated as well.

Sufficient sleep

With the addition of wedding planning, keeping fit and other responsibilities added to your life, it might be a little hard to get the recommended 8 hours of sleep. However, getting too little sleep will be a roadblock in your journey to your dream body. Insufficient sleep will lead to increase in cravings, affect your thinking and concentration, weight gain and many other negative effects. In order to not let your workouts and dieting go to waste, try to get sufficient sleep!

Get a Support System

Constantly pushing yourself and working out can get tiring especially if you don’t have a support system or someone to encourage you throughout. Get a friend, join a group or get your partner to join you on this journey. This way, even when you feel like giving up or giving yourself one too many cheat days, there will always be someone other than yourself keeping track.

Plan for Cheat Days

As much as you plan your meals or your exercises, there are bound to be days where you will not be able to follow your plan as much as you want to. Don’t fret or beat yourself up when that happens. Instead, move on and try to stick to your plan as much as you can for the following days. Remember to allow yourself appropriate cheat days as well as a form of reward or motivation!
