5 Wedding Workouts for All Brides
2018-10-20
With your special day just around the corner, it is natural to want to look your best in the actual day wedding photos, or that rental bridal gown you reserved a few months back. In addition to watching your diet, here are five home workouts to get your bridal body ready!
Bikini Body Guide
The Bikini Body Guide is a 12-week fitness and nutrition guide by Kayla Itsines, and is suitable for all fitness levels. The workout alternates between a 28-minute targeting various muscle groups and HIIT (high intensity interval trainings) or LISS (low intensity steady state), with a rest day each week.
Kayla, who has 10.1 million followers on Instagram, frequently shares impressive progress shots of those who’ve completed the program. Her mobile app Sweat also allows users to connect with one another and encourage accountability, pushing you to go further. This supportive community is the main reason why BBG is so popular among ladies of all ages. You’ll never feel alone on your journey!
Insanity Workouts
Led by the trainer-from-hell Shaun T, Insanity is a 60-day workout program that focuses on HIIT circuits to get your heart rate up and pumping during and after the workout. Marketed as the ‘hardest workout put on DVD’, it became a cult favourite almost immediately following its release in 2009. Its popularity has also led to spinoffs such as Insanity Asylum or Insanity Max 30.
Not for the faint-hearted, Insanity is for brides who are ready to step out of their comfort months. Together with a healthy diet, you are sure to wow your guests in that princess cut ball gown on your special day.
Blogilates
Blogilates started out as a YouTube channel by fitness guru Cassey Ho targeted at those who are looking for something less intense but still effective. In the videos, Cassey uses her sunny disposition to make the workouts more bearable. She releases monthly fitness calendars that you can follow, but if not there’s already an entire archive of workout videos on her channel that you can choose from.
Pilates is great for strengthening your core and improving muscle definition, so this channel is a must watch for the future bride on a Sunday afternoon post-brunch. Follow up with a yoga session to enjoy a relaxing weekend before ramping up on that wedding planning!
A twist on aerobic exercises, Popsugar Fitness offers a series of 30-minute cardio heavy dance workouts that fulfils your daily cardio quota and tones up your body. This is a workout suitable for all levels, and is a much more fun alternative to traditional forms of cardio such as jogging. On top of that, Popsugar Fitness also features a lot of other fun exercise on their channel and publishes fitness articles regularly.
One great thing about dance workouts is, it can also help prepare you for your first dance as well. Invite your bridal posse over and get grooving!
Tracy Anderson Method
Tracy Anderson is a popular celebrity fitness trainer among celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Shakira, and for good reasons too. After a decade spent researching the way our bodies work, she created a fitness method that fully works out each muscle group through a series of aerobic movements.
Even though only body resistance and light hand weights are used, this workout is high impact and is not suitable if you have knee or back pains. Try some of her toning workouts for a low impact alternative!
