Chinese weddings are a minefield of unique traditions, cultures and ancient practices and though most modern-day Chinese weddings may seem more or less identical to the other, every dialect group is peppered with specific beliefs and traditions that gave them a distinctive identity.

When planning for your wedding, it's unsurprising to come across a fair-share of customary traditions or practices. However, unlike before, couples today may choose to forgo some customs.

In efforts to better understand these cultural roots and the traditions that have since stemmed from them, together with Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and in line with Singapore's bicentennial celebration, we present Then & Now: Celebrating Chinese Wedding Traditions – an exhibition dedicated to Chinese wedding traditions.

Held from 25th to 31st May 2019, embark on a nostalgic journey and learn more about the wedding traditions, practices and customs of our predecessors.
