8 Wedding Costs Not To Forget

Staying within your wedding budget can be tedious, especially if you have to comb through almost every other vendor in order to find the right one. However, as much as you plan for your wedding budget, you might not overlook certain expenses that will affect your overall budget if you’re not careful.

Here is a list of some of a few items couples tend to forget to include in their budget.

1. Postage stamps

Though we live in a digital age, invitation cards for events as important as weddings are still sent through post. Though the cost of stamps might not seem like much individually, it will add up to a considerable amount seeing that you will be mailing the cards out to a huge number of guests.

2. Invitation Cards/Stationery

If you are planning to design your own invitation cards from scratch, it might not seem like it will cost much especially if you are doing it digitally. However, the cost comes in when you’re ready to print it. Stationery such as the paper you choose to print your design on might add up to an unexpected amount. Alternatively, if you’re going to a professional, the designs you choose for your cards will also play apart. With more elaborate designs costing more.

3. Dress alterations

Unless you’re planning to get a dress designed specifically for you from scratch, you will need to factor in dress alterations as part of your budget. The wedding dress you decide to buy or rent for your wedding day will not always be a perfect fit and that’s expected. Which is why it is important to remember that you will need alterations, more so if you’re planning to either gain or lose weight for your wedding day.

4. Accessories & undergarments

Remember that budgeting for your outfit is not only for your dress, but for everything that you will need to wear on your wedding day. Other than your wedding dress, you will also need to consider undergarments and accessories that will suit your dress. Accessories include necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. However, this is not a necessity, especially if you’re planning to only wear your engagement ring.

5. Overtime fees

As a bride, you would have probably planned your wedding down to the last minute and in turn booked your wedding vendors and venue accordingly. However, not everything will go as planned and one of it might an overrun of your wedding. This is not necessarily a bad thing as it shows how much your guests are enjoying themselves! Moreover, if you factor this into your budget, this might not leave you panicked or at a loss on your special day.

6. Your meals

When keeping track or finalising the head count for the reception, 2 very important people will usually be left out - the couple. The cost of food for your guests usually eats up a huge portion of your budget. Which is why you should ensure that you do not over or under order. Another reason why this is important is, this will be one of your first meals as a married couple with your family and friends, so don’t forget to get food for yourselves!

7. Red Packets

If your wedding day or ceremony requires this, remember to factor in red packets as part of your budget as well. You might need to give red packets to a few people such as your bridal party, solemniser, etc. during or throughout your wedding day. Planning for this in your budget will give you a more realistic idea of how much you are able to allocate for each vendor, etc.

8. Hair and makeup trials

Though you will have already set aside a budget for hair and makeup, you might not have considered a budget for the hair and makeup trials that you will be undergoing before you select and hire an artist for the day. Though these trials are not exactly necessary, it is recommended in order for you to find an artist that you are comfortable to work with as well as to get a better idea of what to you will look like on your actual day.
