Bridal Hacks: 5 Tips for a Good Night’s Sleep

As a bride or groom-to-be, you're in what may just be some of the most stressful yet exciting months of your life. With so much going on, whether you're in the process of planning for your wedding, battling nerves or anticipating its arrival, sleep might just be a luxury.

Constantly sacrificing your sleep and staying up late in the months leading up to your wedding will leave you feeling exhausted on the actual day of the wedding, an absolute no-no if you ask us. To have you feeling refreshed for your special day and the days in-between, here are five tips to help you get the ample rest that you deserve.

Implement a Sleep Schedule

A sleep schedule helps to regulate your body clock, ensuring a night of uninterrupted rest. Implementing a sleep schedule is essentially giving yourself a night curfew and a particular time to wake up. Once you've decided on the timing, it's crucial that you remain as consistent as you possibly can.

Start a Bedtime Ritual

To prepare yourself for bed, start a bedtime practice that'll help you wind down. This can be as simple as taking a warm, relaxing bath or listening to soothing music. Continually following through with this routine will give your body the cue that it's time for bed.

Time to Hit the Gym

While you don’t necessarily have to lift weights, exercises are said to increase the quality of sleep by reducing levels of stress and anxiety. Partaking in physical activities not only benefits your body, but also increases the period of uninterrupted rest, otherwise known as the physically restorative phase. At the same time, engaging in physical activities would also increase your body’s submissiveness to rest.

Ditch the Electronics

Due to the stimulating nature of the activities, using electronic devices such as your phones, tablets or laptops would adversely affect the quality of your sleep. Thus, a digital ban of minimally 30 minutes before bedtime is highly recommended.

Pen Your Thoughts

If your mind tends to be crowded a myriad of thoughts each night, consider penning them down! Instead of attempting to block them out, acknowledge them. This will allow you to (temporarily) let go of your worries and settle down for the night.

While the months, weeks and days leading up to your big day can be nerve-wracking, always remember to place your well-being first to be in your best shape for the big day.
