5 Novel Activities All Bridesmaids Need To Include In The Gatecrash

Ahh yes, the infamous gatecrash. From the Chinese emperor to the Spartans, we must say gatecrashes today, despite them being a local tradition, are anything but.

For those who aren’t exactly sure what a gatecrash is, it’s essentially a tradition that sees a groom and his groomsmen being put through a series of activities before the groom is allowed in the bride’s place to see his bride. Fun, right?

Whether you’re a bridesmaid-to-be planning a gatecrash or a groomsman prepping for the big day, we’ve got a list of fun gatecrashing activities for you below.

1. Tongue twisters

All you need are a few helium balloons, some tongue twisters and your camera! Get the groom or his groomsmen to memorise the tongue twister, have them inhale in some helium air before repeating the phrases and voila, non-stop laughter for the next ten minutes. To make the task more challenging, simply opt for tongue twisters in another language or have them sing the bride’s favourite song.

2. Pick the real deal

A gatecrash will not be complete without bizarre food combinations. But instead of having it as a forfeit, the food the groom and groomsmen taste will depend on their luck.

All you have to do is prepare two sets of a single dish, one being the original while the other mixed with a mystery ingredient. For example, salty milk and normal milk, coke with vinegar and normal coke. Lay the dishes out and get the groom and the groomsmen to take their pick.

To mix things up, add food colouring to certain dishes and use see-through cups or bowls for an added intimidation factor.

3. Pepero kiss

Is the groom shy in nature? Then we say it’s time we bring out his extrovert potential. First, place a pepero between your groom and a groomsmen before having them bite the biscuit stick to the shortest length possible. To mix things up, set a time limit of five seconds or less.

4. Lip to lip pass

For more lip action, have the groom and groomsmen to pass items with their lips. This is a pretty easy task, so make sure to change things by using items that are difficult to pass. For example, mentos, candy floss or balloons.

5. All for one

In this activity your groom and his groomsmen will have to prove their unity and coordination. You’ll need a pretty long skipping rope for this one. Your groom and his groomsmen have to hold hands while jumping with the skipping rope. To add on to the activity, you can have them strike various poses while jumping without letting go of each other’s hands.

Do note to provide ample space for this task and that no one gets hurt!
