Singapore is not short of outdoor wedding locations. Plenty of opportunities to hold an intimate and breathtaking ceremony in the midst of mother nature are available, but first, couples need to be mindful of the restrictions and permits that come along with it.

Apart from making sure that there are enough parking spaces and restrooms to accommodate all your guests, you need to have a proper discussion with your wedding vendors about all possible restrictions in terms of space, entertainment, additional equipment, and shelter in the case of rainy weather.

If your location is somewhat more obscure, you might want to ask the vendors if they are able to provide any transport services such as shuttle buses to fetch your guests around.

2. Decorations

Perhaps one of the best parts of an outdoor wedding is the myriad of concepts and ideas that can be brought to life amidst the natural landscape. Whether you want something elegant and formal or casual and dreamy, just remember to keep your decor heavy – literally. You wouldn’t want your decor to get blown away or destroyed in the middle of the ceremony!

Always check with your wedding caterer to ensure that the menu is ideal for an outdoor wedding venue where foods might easily spoil – you don’t want your guests to leave with an upset stomach.

Typically, outdoor weddings are great for serving barbequed delights, tacos, icy popsicles, fruit salads, and homemade cocktails to keep everyone quenched and satisfied!

4. Check the Weather

The weather in Singapore can become unbearable, so make sure that your guests, suppliers, and vendors are kept comfortable by providing pockets of sheltered spaces for them to cool off if needed. Otherwise, consider preparing wedding favours in the form of handmade fans and mini care packs to keep them protected, rain or shine.

More importantly, let your guests know what they will be getting themselves into – inform them of the dress code early and allow them to prepare and dress for the occasion accordingly. Don’t forget to pick out a wedding gown that is comfortable for you to mingle and party all night long as well!
